Actually, this one is running for some time. However, guess there is more ahead than behind) Kit itself is Zvezda 'Black swan' (or, basically, Revell 'Pirate ship' - sprues are identical). Back in the time there was original black pearl kits, but Disney license is not a joke, so kits were updated to have a different figurehead (which led me to 3d-printing) and naming plate.
Here is something from the very beginning with lower deck finished. Those were more like experiment considered successful

On figurehead - there's semi-completed version, but still unsure

current state is smth like this - everything except lower hull is dry fit, upper decks awaiting drybrush

next mini-boss is guns - 32 guns, each consisting of 7 parts (like one on the picture above)
#5 - 17/06/2026

no, in this case I bought STL's with some designs specifically for black pearl, probably may replace some on balcony and stand, but they need scaling
#6 - 17/06/2026

also not sure how figurehead will fit the bowsprit, so that´s another reason almost all is dry fit
#7 - 17/06/2026

guns are being in progress, but still only half) also thinking about replacing whole rigging from plastic to wooden and printed blocks for both running rigging and shrouds

suddenly there were released lanterns for black pearl, still trying to understand exact scale and amount of kitbashing, but here is a sample. glass insert is actually black transparent resin, but painted with transparent lacquers from inside and after it opaque metallic. Still unsure about the final decision. Also comparison with included lanterns

it's not an aftermarket, everything is printed. But not sure if three inserts worth buying clear transparent resin, probably 'smoky black' will work fine. Maybe metallic layer is excess

still playing with lanterns, a little bit unsure on idea of opaque layer of silver in glass part, also verdigris is little bit tricky

might work... it´s vallejo metal color, which can be dilluted. Another option I think is denying the opaque layer, but placing inside smth like a toothpick covered with chrome (molotov markers etc.)
#13 - 17/06/2026

guess this one (sorry, without the link for now 🙂 ). Probably too sophisticated for this build, but interesting idea. Tryin to build insert internal cover little bit differently now, with airbeush mostly. Will see how it goes

found a rudder model. Pilot print is at 100%, but looks like it will fit after some scaling. Included one has same design, but lacks ropes going under the deck. Also citadel wyldwood seem to be great here

So, and here is the point I'm puzzled. I scaled and print rudder again and it seems to fit the original one. However, question is if it's possible to fit it into the decks without stripping the whole paint. Obviously there will be putty, sanding etc, and probably will install it on UV putty. Don't remember correctly, but most likely primer was vallejo PU, which will likely peel off in case of any works

same, but no wood texture on stand, also there's no grates to put the rope. Finally, original has rope molded, so I need to glue the halves, clean the mold line and after it sand out the molded rope. So I would prefer custom one

yes, main thing is texture as it looks much better after weathering
#18 - 17/06/2026

so guess AK paint stripper is back in the game)
#19 - 17/06/2026

I didn't see other solutions for paint removal, and AK works good for me, especially current version) previous require gloves, and current is more forgiving
#20 - 17/06/2026

So, cleaning with AK, IPA (not a beer :D) and fairy. Posting just to ensure everyone it's plastic. UV and epoxy putty and sanding are on the way. Can, probably, create more detailed series on painting - either if someone needs details or for enhancement

so, kind of returned to the same state, but with rudder stand. Rudder itself got an incident, so reprinting it
